My Story
Growing up in the country with a deeply musical family, I was surrounded by country music from an early age. At just 10 years old, I joined my father's country band, which soon evolved into a true family band. I began playing the snare drum before expanding to bass guitar, lead guitar, and eventually pedal steel guitar.
In 1988, at the age of 24, I made the move to Nashville to pursue my passion for country music. Immersing myself in the heart of Music City, I was fortunate to perform and record alongside some of the industry's most respected artists, including Trace Adkins, Tom T. Hall, Kellie Pickler, Dierks Bentley, and Gretchen Wilson. Along the way, I spent countless hours in recording studios, including operating my own project studio, and had the opportunity to contribute to demo recordings that later became hit songs for major artists.
After 25 rewarding years in Nashville, I began a new chapter in Southern California. Inspired by the area's vibrant and diverse music scene, I recently founded my own band, Randy Hess & Nashville West, bringing together some of Southern California's finest musicians to perform authentic, high-energy country music with the unmistakable Nashville sound. Along with founding my own music production company, Randy Hess Music, I've continued performing with a variety of bands while collaborating with talented local artists and songwriters in the studio.
Today, my passion is bringing the authentic Nashville sound and decades of professional touring and recording experience to artists throughout Southern California and beyond. Whether on stage or in the studio, I'm committed to delivering exceptional musicianship and helping artists create memorable performances and recordings that capture the heart of country music.
